Description
River Aggitis in prefecture of Drama in Macedonia, Greece. Footpath near the river.
It is the largest river cave in the world and unique open to visitors (by the river) in Greece. It's length is more than 13,000 meters. The peculiarity of the cave, is that river Aggitis is flowing on the floor of the cave. The rich decoration includes huge stalactites.
Impressive stalactites and stalagmites of up to 30 m., A metal paddle, colonies of hundreds of rare bats, coypu, otters, fish such as chub rare, translucent "petrokaravida" and thousands of completely transparent fish that inhabit the river, are images that will leave visitors astonished .
Particularly impressive is the output of the river through the mountain.
Coming out of the cave we can walk alongside the river, on a very romantic path that goes to bars and taverns.
